Social Acivities
There are numerous things to do and places to go in Katoomba. The organising committee has
arranged discounts for four activities for meeting attendees on Tuesday Afternoon, but places are limited so book early!
1. Come on a guided tour of some of Katoomba. Visit Everglades Gardens: constructed in the 1930's, the art deco house is said
to be the finest cold climate arboretum in Australia and is now a working artists studio and gallery. With five hectares of
valley views, bluebell woodland, lawned and flowering terraces, stone walls, winding paths, glades, pools and fountains, it
is a most spectacular garden for all seasons. Leuralla is a glorious 5 hectare historic Blue Mountains garden & family mansion
housing the NSW Toy & Railway Museum and the Dr H V Evatt Memorial Museum. Travel to the village of Leura with time to wander
through this delightful village renowned for its Arts & Crafts galleries. Cost: $130
2. Learn to abseil in Katoomba, with fantastic views across to the world famous Three Sisters, Katoomba Falls and the Jamison Valley
. This beginners course replaces the need for full day abseiling. Heights from 5 to 60 metres, with million dollar views. Cost $130
3. Take part in a Chocolate Appreciation workshop incorporating wine matching hosted by Jodie Van Der Velden, founder of the award winning
Josophan's Fine Chocolates. Participants will be guided through a fun and enlightening tasting and will learn to discern different tastes/
textures/ aromas and determine quality of chocolate using all their senses, and explore how different beans affect chocolate outcomes in
extraordinary single origin chocolates. The event will conclude with a discussion focussed on pairing wine with chocolate, and include
tasting four thoughtfully selected wines with chocolate to experience wine and chocolate matching. Cost $35
4. Marvel at the Blue Mountains as you take in the fresh air while riding high on horseback deep in the valleys looking up to majestic
cliff faces. Well cared for horses and quality guides will ensure your horseriding experience is one to truly remember. The guided horseriding
trip takes in views of the Shipley Plateau, Centennial Glen, the Megalong Valley and Hargraves lookout. Cost $130
