AMATA Awards & Prizes

Each year AMATA awards two Poster Prizes and two Podium Prizes as well as a number of Travel Bursaries.

Poster & Oral Presentation Prizes:

There will be one poster prize and one podium prize each for Early Career Researchers and for Students. Each poster prize is $Aus 500 and each prize for an oral presentation is $Aus 1,000.

Travel Bursaries:

AMATA is offering travel bursaries totalling $1,500 for attendance at the 2009 meeting. Travel bursaries will be awarded prior to the meeting and made payable to the recipient's Institution. The Awardees will be presented with a certificate signed by the AMATA executive. The winners will be chosen by a panel of judges from within the organising committee on the basis of their submitted abstract. To qualify, you must be a member of AMATA, registered to attend the meeting and either (a) be enrolled at a recognised University or Institute in an approved course reflecting the aims of the society at Honours level or higher or (b) be a Postdoc with less than six years work experience and employed full-time in the field in an accredited, academic institution. The amount of each bursary will be indexed to the travel cost from the recipient's location to Sydney. (Registrants from Sydney may not apply for a travel bursary.) The awarding of a bursary is at the complete discretion of the AMATA 2009 organising committee.

Applications for a bursary should be sent to Dr Ruby Lin (rubyl@unsw.edu.au) with the subject line "AMATA 2009: Application for Bursary". A confirmation email will be sent within 48 hours. The application email must include the applicant's full name, the title of the paper/poster and whether the applicant is a postdoc or a student. Student applicants must also submit a scanned copy of the student certification form that was sent to CVBS. Post-doctoral applicants must submit a copy of their CV.

The closing date for applications is 31st July, 2009. Applicants will be advised of the outcome of their application by email.
